Gift Aid

Did you know? Gift Aid is good news for the Church because:

  • It increases our giving by 25 per cent
  • No minimum contribution is required
  • No particular amount has to be promised
  • There is no fixed term during which contributions must be made
  • Tax made be recovered retrospectively.

All that is required is that the donor must pay UK income tax or capital gains tax, at any rate, at least equal to the amount of tax being reclaimed, and give their offering or donation through offering envelopes or by bank standing order or by cheque to establish the necessary audit trail.

Donors must also sign a Gift Aid Declaration Form, which gives the name of the congregation and the donor's name and address (including postcode).

The donor signs and dates the form under these words:

"I want the congregation to treat all donations I have made for the four years prior to this year, and all donations I make from the date of this declaration, until I notify you otherwise, as Gift Aid donations."

A gift to the Church in your Will

The work of the Church has been assisted greatly by many generous gifts in the Wills of members, adherents and supporters. If you wish to make a gift in your Will to support the work of your local church, it can support your local congregation in its MISSION or the general maintenance of the Church. A gift to the Church in your Will is exempt from Inheritance Tax. The General Treasurer and the Solicitor of the Church are always willing to provide information about the work of the Church to anyone interested in making a gift in their Will. To find out more about leaving a legacy in your Will, please read here for more information.

For all other enquiries about Gift Aid, please contact our Church Treasurer.
