Rev. Thomas McKinlay
THOMAS was the son of Patrick McKindlay, and was educated at the University of Glasgow. On completing his studies in Glasgow, he went on to become a tutor in the family of Sir Michael Stewart, 3rd Baronet of Blackball.
After experiencing a call to the Ministry, he was duly licensed by the Presbytery of Dunoon on the 9th July 1745. On receiving a call from Stevenston High Kirk on the 17th October 1745, he was then ordained on the 24th April 1746.
He was married on the 4th of December 1751 to Jean Dickie, who died 16th July 1824 aged 93. Their daughter Jean, was born on the 27th November 1752, and son John (who became a merchant in Montrose) was born on the 31st March 1754.
Rev Thomas McKindlay died on the 2nd May 1758, and was survived by wife and children.
